School’s Out!

Oh, how the past year has just flown by!  We started with my little sweet darlings heading off to Preschool and Kindergarten in this post, and now we’re…

 

…here, with the last day of school.  With everything moving so fast, I wasn’t prepared for the last day like I was for the first day (hence the handwritten sign).  However, it seems like my boys were more prepared than I was.  My newly-graduated Kindergartener didn’t need a sign made by me; he wrote one himself!

 

Wow, what a year!  Kindergarten and 1st Grade, here we come!

My husband and I were privileged to attend a Grand Pre-Opening Party for Louisville’s new Gordon Biersch restaurant on Saturday night.  It’s not very often that we get the opportunity to go on a date; so, when we do, it’s extra special. 

Let me tell you, this place was fabulous.  The food was delicious, and the beer was incredible! 

 

If you happen to be in downtown Louisville and feel your tummy growling, this restaurant is the place to go.  You will not be disappointed.

{Oh, and I highly recommend the lobster and shrimp mac and cheese!  I can’t wait to have it again!}

Are They Real?

Okay.  So, I’m pretty sure a little visit to my doctor for an annual check of “you know what and where” is what precipitated what could be perceived as a rant.  So, here it goes.

This rendition of an oldie nearly took my breath away and brought me to tears.  When my sister first told me she was thinking about playing the song Endless Love at her wedding, I immediately thought about Adam Sandler’s movie, Happy Gilmore.  So, of course, I secretly thought this would not be a good choice for a hip, cute couple like they are, until……I heard it.

Wowzers! 

Lionel Richie and Shania Twain hit this one out of the park.  The arrangement is truly breathtaking.

Bring on the Horses. It’s Opening Night!

I’m so excited to attend this awesome event with my hubby.  It’s opening night this Saturday at Churchill Downs! I’ll be donning a peacock feather fascinator and a cocktail dress, and we’ll be sitting on Millionaires Row (ooh, la, la, right?  It’s just the name of the floor, a financial background check isn’t required to sit there… haha) with our dearest friends enjoying horse racing at it’s finest.

We do love us some horse racing.  Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, it’s an unavoidable personality trait that I will forever embrace.

With the Kentucky Derby just a little more than a week away, this part of the country is all abuzz with Kentucky Derby Festival events.  It is truly the greatest time of the year to be a Kentuckian!

WTH?… but Worth Every Energy-Saving Dime!

I’m starting a new acronym for texting, Twitter, what have you, and it’s WTH for “What the heck?” (because I absolutely always curb the urge to say the alternative!).  So, go ahead and say, “What the heck?”  It’s totally the right question for the giant box of… wine, in my refrigerator.

 

Don’t worry.  The Coke is right behind it :)

My husband bought this as our way of doing our part on Earth Day. I’m pretty sure people will think we are some serious wine drinkers with this obnoxiously large box ‘o wine in our fridge.

 

It cracks me up every time I open the fridge and see it… totally worth every energy-saving dime!

Best Piggyback Ride…EVER!

I’m sure many of you caught a glimpse of this on the news at some point this week, but just in case you didn’t, here’s a cute picture of the space shuttle Discovery taking it’s last ride, a la piggyback!  I just thought that it looked like a momma plane taking it’s little baby for a piggyback ride… so darn cute!

 

If you listen closely, you can hear Discovery saying, “Weee!”

Trendy Tresses

How much do you love Drew Barrymore’s hair!?  It’s called ombre, and I am jonesing to do this to my tresses- dark on top with dip-dyed ends.  Sometimes, a girl just needs to change things up.  So, I’m thinking ombre hair or this…

I have just fallen in love with the look Hannah Simone of New Girl sports.  I’m not sure if I could pull off either look, really, but, hey, it’s worth a try.  Right?

Cardboard Genius

 

Pardon me, as I pick my jaw up off the floor.  Honestly, this kid is too cool.  He created a cardboard arcade that is making the headlines.  Not only is he just darling, but he’s a dreamer, and it’s dreamers like this kiddo who will make the world a better place.
